RYE PALE ALE

It’s time for our next Specialty #1 beer and the hop heads should love this one. The beer is a Rye PA, which is a IPA brewed with 50% rye malt. Rye has been used for ages as a base component for not only whiskey but also beer. Our Rye PA is a little lighter in color and body than our Thunderhop IPA. It is also lower in alcohol, we did this because in the hot Pittsburgh Summer we wanted to produce a nice thirst quenching brew. The aroma of this brew is citrus and spice. The citrus comes from the dry hopping process in which we added 11 pounds of Amarillo hops to the fermenter. The spice is from the rye malt. You will notice upon first sip that the beer is a little bready and spicy. This is also from the addition of the rye malt. The beer finishes with a nice thirst quenching dry bitterness. I hope everyone enjoys our new Summer seasonal.
